Tuned or Jobscan?

Jobscan measures: you upload a resume, paste a job posting and get a match rate with the keywords you are missing. Tuned builds: from one base resume it makes the version for that posting, using only what you wrote, and shows every change. Jobscan Premium is $49.95 a month; Tuned Pro is $19. Here is what each one does, and where Jobscan is the better choice.

Tuned wrote this page. What it says about Jobscan comes from Jobscan’s own pages, listed under Sources. We have not run Jobscan’s tailoring ourselves; when we do, the results will be added here.

What is the same

The input. Both start from the resume you already have and the text of a job posting.

A score. Both tell you how well the resume matches the posting. The two numbers are counted in different ways and can’t be compared with each other.

The view of applicant tracking systems. Both check that a parser can read the document: Jobscan as part of its report, Tuned in a free resume check that needs no account.

What Tuned does differently

The resume, not the report. A match report tells you what is missing, and the editing is yours. Tuned does the editing: it picks the lines that fit the posting, rewords them in its terms, and hands you the finished file.

New words need a source. Every edit is checked against your base resume before it is saved, and an edit that brings in a number, a technology or a claim with no source there is dropped. Each change that is saved shows the line it came from.

A missing keyword becomes a question. A keyword in a report is an instruction to add it; whether you can add it honestly is left to you. When the posting asks for something your resume doesn’t mention, Tuned asks whether you have done it — and writes it in only after you say yes.

The page count is part of the job. Pick one, two or three pages. Tuned measures the finished PDF and turns the least relevant lines off until it fits; what is turned off stays in your base.

The price of one resume. Tuned Pro is $19 a month for up to 70 tailoring runs, about $0.27 each. Jobscan Premium is $49.95 a month, with no cap on scans.

Where Jobscan is the better choice

If you write the resume yourself and want it measured, use Jobscan. Tuned is for people who would rather review edits than make them.

  • A detailed report. Hard skills and soft skills are broken down separately, so you see where the gap is.
  • LinkedIn. Jobscan Premium optimizes a LinkedIn profile. Tuned works on resumes and cover letters only.
  • No cap on the paid plan. Jobscan Premium scans as often as you like; Tuned Pro has a monthly allowance.

Questions

Is there a cheaper alternative to Jobscan?

Tuned Pro is $19 a month for up to 70 tailoring runs, and the free plan gives up to 4 a month with no card. Jobscan Premium is $49.95 a month, or $89.95 for three months. They are not the same product, though: Jobscan scores the resume you wrote, Tuned writes the tailored one. On Tuned’s free plan the first tailoring run is written by the larger model, as on Pro, and later ones by a lighter model.

Does Tuned show a match rate like Jobscan?

Tuned shows a match score for every tailored resume. It is calculated by a formula, not by a model, so the same resume and posting always give the same number. It is counted differently from Jobscan’s Match Rate, and the two can’t be compared.

Can I check my resume in Tuned without signing up?

Yes. The resume check runs 41 checks on a PDF — layouts an ATS reads badly, bullets without results, repetition, filler — with no account and no AI, and the file isn’t stored. It looks at the resume itself; matching it against a posting happens in the app.

Will a higher match score get my resume past the ATS?

Nobody can guarantee that. An ATS usually doesn’t reject resumes on its own: it sorts the document into fields, and a recruiter reads it. What matters is that the document reads without errors and the right experience is easy to find.
